The Met Gala, aka ‘fashion’s biggest night out’ isn’t just a Red Carpet (actually Blue carpet this year) – it’s a runway for reinvention, rebellion and pure flashy drama. This fundraising benefit for the Metropolitan Museum Of Art in New York, captured worldwide gaze on 5th May 2025. This year, Bollywood stars did not just walk it, they ruled it. Serving looks that blended heritage with high fashion and a presence that demanded attention, Indian celebrities brought a fearless energy to the gala. From Met veterans, Priyanka Chopra and Isha Ambani, to the celebs making their debut – King Khan, Kiara Advani and Diljit Dosanjh, The Met Gala was packed with Bollywood marvels who turned heads. As the evening unfolded into adorable moments and awkward silences, here’s how our Bollywood Stars marked their global presence.
Kiara Advani’s Bravehearts – Cupid’s Star
Mom-to-be Kiara, arrived at The Met Gala 2025 flaunting her baby bump dressed in a gown envisioned by the most sought after Indian designer, Gaurav Gupta. Her look embodied the transformative phase in her life, nailing the ‘Tailored for You’ theme. Her gown named “Bravehearts” was symbolic of her pregnancy as the golden hearts were interconnected with a chain of little ghungroos, representing the umbilical chord. With this masterpiece, Gaurav Gupta has created magic, once again!
Sidharth Malhotra gave ‘green flag husband’ vibes and slayed in a stunning black attire as he sweetly escorted Kiara to the Red Carpet, holding her hand all the way. Fans cannot stop gushing over it!
Shah Rukh Khan flaunts the Bengal Tiger
India’s undisputed generational superstar – SRK finally made his debut at The Met Gala 2025, making him the first Indian male actor to grace the Red Carpet. He stole the show in a stunning custom black suit by Sabyasachi, elevating the theme, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style. His ensemble with the ‘K’ necklace, layered gold chains, tousled hair, black sunglasses and an embellished tiger head cane in hand screamed “King Khan.”
Maybe, it didn’t scream loud enough. As he walked the carpet, the members of the international media , unfamiliar with the global icon, asked him, ‘What is your name?’
to which SRK replied in a very calm and composed manner, ‘I am Shah Rukh.’
This moment rapidly gained attention online, causing an outrage amongst the fans who called the interviewers ‘disrespectful’ and ‘clueless.’ Tweets have been flooding in with users commenting, ‘They had no clue who they were talking to.’
Despite all the drama and lack of recognition, King Khan was his usual gracious self, making heartfelt remarks about his children’s excitement, his nervousness to attend such a grand event and his collaboration with Sabyasachi.
Diljit Dosanjh, The Maharaja
Diljit’s debut at The Met was a royal affair. Walking the blue carpet dressed like a Maharaja in an attire by Prabal Gurung, represented his roots and culture that blended with the theme. His look was a homage to Maharaja of Patiala and his sword justified his royal look.
In an interview with the New York Times, Diljit opened up on his ensemble and how it fit the theme. “It’s what I’ve been doing all this time. It’s about carrying your identity with pride, right?” he said.
His team also revealed that they wanted to make it special by borrowing the iconic Patiala Necklace commissioned by Maharaja Bhupinder Singh in 1928 but were denied permission as it is sealed in a museum.
Priyanka Chopra dropping major hints with Roma Vibes
In her fifth appearance, Pee Cee dazzled the evening in a tailored polka dot outfit, a creation of Balmain. Radiating Queen energy, she walked the carpet with her husband, Nick Jonas. Her look was adored by fans and some even noticed that Shah Rukh and Priyanka’s outfits resembled the ones from 2007 Don’s promotions, channeling their Don and Roma vibes. Was this planned all along or are we to expect her Bollywood comeback?
Isha Ambani’s Studded Affair
Reliance heiress Isha Ambani made her fifth appearance at the Met Gala this year. She wore a custom Anamika Khanna outfit but it was her jewels that caught massive attention. Her blinding Solitaire necklace and rings were revealed to belong to her mother, Nita Ambani.
She smiles bashfully and opens up about her jewellery being heirloom pieces and how it personifies her tradition.
Final Words
The Met Gala 2025 once again proved to be a fashion spectacle. Culturally rich style choices of Bollywood celebrities not only turned heads but also highlighted the impact of Indian fashion on a global platform. As Bollywood bridges the gap between East and West, one can’t help but wonder what’s next in store.
